We love to travel and spend a lot of time on the road. Along the way we've learned a lot about what makes a trip fun and what can spoil the experience.

I'm a traveler and the birth of my first son did not slow me down; we made 11 trips before his first birthday.  He was an easy travel companion, if he was dry and warm he was happy.

My dogs, Ellie and Lucy, love riding in the car and they have logged many miles on our almost annual trek to the east coast and back.  Having your canine friends along for the ride can add fun and adventure to your trip, but it does require a little more advance planning.

Our friend and Good News Girl, Cynthia Salzman Mondell, asked me to write about how I feel about my travels with the Little Black Shoe. She's hard at work on a documentary film called Sole Sisters about women and their relationships with their shoes, and it makes sense that she'd inquire. I've said a lot so far about the shoes and how they perform and how my feet feel, but very little about any emotion they evoked.

A Girls Weekend is perfect for laughing, crying and cleansing the soul.  My three BFFs joined me for the weekend in Chatham.  We are a young version of the Golden Girls - lots of laughs, a bit of banter and always honest with each other.  We cooked, drank wine, walked and shared our best advice.

I've spent years seeking the perfect travel shoe-one that will take me from a casual evening with friends to dinner at a nice restaurant or a hike in the woods. Enter the Little Black Shoe (LBS). I have finally found what is, if not perfection, then something very close. Footwear's answer to the Little Black Dress is made by Merrell and sold as a hiking shoe.

We at Good News Girlz love to travel lite. One roller bag and a carry on can cover us for three or four weeks with no trouble. We always start with Harriet's basic packing lite article. Layering is the solution for every destination at every time of year, but each itinerary and season deserves its own analysis.

Nothing grabs my attention quite as quickly as someone behind me on an airplane sneezing uncontrollably. Avoiding germs when traveling can be difficult, but there are ways to dodge them, or at least reduce the chance that your fellow travelers will infect you.

Traveling light can be tough if you love shoes. Some outfits, good in themselves, become spectacular with the right footwear. How can one pack for style, comfort, and dazzle without hiring a personal stevedore?

As a frequent traveler, my goal is to never check a bag. Not only does it cost $25 for each one, I hate waiting for my bags, and am always anxious that they'll be lost in the baggage menagerie under the airport.
