For more than 40 years, Girls Incorporated of Metropolitan Dallas has been a champion for girls. It served 805 girls last year and is well on its way to a goal of 1,020 girls this year.  It inspires six to 18-year-old members to be strong, smart, and bold. The vision for these girls is that they acquire the skills and education required to thrive and become fulfilled and successful women.

As an organization, Girls Inc. has become a veritable expert on girls and the issues that impact them.  That is why Lori Palmer, CEO of Girls Inc. since 2007, decided it was time to color outside of the lines  and produced a series of lectures followed by an open discussion of "what is a girl?"-archetypically, historically, futuristically and everything in between.

She wanted forums where a group could gather to elevate the discourse about girls in the Dallas community, society and culture.  When she asks the question, "what is a girl?" it is not rhetorical. She wants to examine the multitudinous answers that she knows exist.
