Italy is the perfect place to enjoy food, wine, hiking and a dash of culture.  The wines express the unique qualities of each region and are enjoyed with local cuisine.  Hiking opportunities abound, whether through the rolling hills and vineyards of the Piedmont region or the more challenging hikes of the Cinque Terre.  There is enough culture to enjoy a full course.

The Good News Girlz 2012 Italy officially began this morning. We met at the Milan airport, boarded our Renault Trafic 9 passenger van and headed south to Alba. We made great time to the Hotel Langhe at Strada Profonda, 21, our home in the Piedmont region. Nico and his staff welcomed us and got us squared away. Some of the rooms had to be reconfigured into twin beds for our group. Nico said it's because his girls are in love that they made all the beds double.

Another beautiful day and a late start. Our hotel, the Accademia, is perfect for this kind of morning-breakfast is lavish and served until 10:00 and it's set just off a pedestrian street with the best shopping in Verona. We found plenty to occupy us before climbing back into the van for the return to Milan. And we must admit that there were many more bags to load after some serious shopping.

We enjoyed a bountiful breakfast at the Hotel Accademia and a much needed late start this morning. A short drive through picturesque towns and lush countryside took us to the Allegrini Winery.

After four wonderful days in the in the Cinque Terre, we had to move on. We fed the chickens, packed up, and said goodbye to Paula. One last fabulous breakfast and we were on our way.
